Stendker Discus Food

The Stendker family bred Discus from 1965 until retirement in May 2023. The family do however still supply the food they used that is especially tailored to the needs of Discus fish.

It contains everything that Discus fish need for a healthy diet and is ideally suited as a complete feed. Stendker discus food contains a mixture of beef heart, vitamins, minerals, crustaceans, and vegetable components.

The frozen food is available in three varieties, Original, Colour, Spirulina and in two sizes, 100g "blister packs" with 20 x 5 g portions or 500 g "slabs" The slabs provide a more economic option and can easily be cut into cubes and stored.

Goodheart should never be offered to your Discus frozen as the fish can damage their mouths on it in frozen state.

Allow the food to defrost until "soft" and feed it as a cube or break the cube into small cubes, do not mash it up as this allows the vital minerals etc to dilute into the water, likewise do not defrost under a running tap for the same reason.

Aim to feed 1.5g of food per Discus per day, and for optimal health and growth spread over three feeds. Your Discus will take the food from your hand, how cool is that !

Here at Devotedly Discus we have used Goodheart daily for over 30 years now and recommend it not just for Stendker Discus, but all Discus.

The granulat / granules also developed at the Stender hatchery to the same high standards as the frozen food, can be offered in fish feed timers if required. Whilst the food in this form can be fed exclusively, we have found over the years that many Discus keepers offer it as "a treat" or dip a defrosted lump of Goodheart into it and feed the two foods at the same time.
